So 2023? It's been a while since we've given a status update
What's happened in the last couple of years? We've emerged from the pandemic (woo!) with a bit more of a structured plan and a solid foundation for the future. The biggest change at Wilderness towers has been the addition of the wonderful Helen (@helenannesmith) to the team. We took on Helen just over a year ago, and they've been a big hit (employee of the month a record 14 months in a row).
Helen has really helped define who we are. We've gone from being pretty unstructured to much more organised, both in ideas and administration. We've really clarified our values, and have had lots of serious chats about the type of beers we want to make. The most immediate result has been a new set of house beers that we're really proud of, and a brand new artwork collaborator - the amazing Sophie (@sophiepotterco).
These beers, our Rise/Fall series of a bitter, a pale and a saison, has been such a fun project to work on - creating beers constant in style but allowing the recipes to vary with the seasons. This has allowed us to offer a slightly more balanced product range, but still with room for experimentation. We commissioned Sophie to design some art for them (soft, natural, not hyper-masculine) and we had such lovely feedback, we decided to ask her to illustrate all our beers going forward.
So for 2023/2024 we're hoping to spread our wings a little - getting out around the UK to work with some of our friends in the industry, creating new beers and also hosting more tastings and events.
We're getting close to maxing out the amount of beer we can make on our current site, and with our current staffing (i.e. James and Helen), so we're hoping for a little slow growth, but nothing too stressful! We'd prefer to keep focused on the things that provide us with the most satisfaction - beers we can be proud of, and a business we can be proud of.
Stick with us, it's going to be fun.
